Day 1: Zanzibar to Mikumi National Park – Full-Day Wildlife Discovery

Your adventure begins in Zanzibar, where you’ll board a light aircraft bound for Mikumi National Park, famed for its striking Mkata flood plains, often likened to the Serengeti. Upon touching down at Kikoboga Airstrip, our friendly driver-guide will welcome you and provide a detailed overview of your day’s journey.

Immediately embark on an immersive game drive across Mikumi’s most vibrant area, the Mkata flood plains. This area is renowned for its dense wildlife populations and exceptional sightings. You’ll have the chance to see large herds of elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and wildebeests, and the possibility of spotting predators like hyenas, leopards, and lions. The park is also home to the majestic Sable Antelope, Great Kudu, and the Eland, the largest antelope in the world.

Around midday, take a break to enjoy a hot lunch before continuing your exploration. The afternoon will be dedicated to visiting Mikumi’s centrepiece, the famous Hippo Pool, where various wildlife, including elephants and lions, are often seen quenching their thirst.

Your day concludes with a drive back to the airstrip, filled with unforgettable memories and unique experiences, as you catch your flight back to Zanzibar.
